Best from waste!
Surat: In the meeting of the standing committee of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC), ten topics were discussed on Thursday. The standing committee planned about the extension of Khajod plant.
Around 200 metric tons of garbage is sent to Khajod daily from the city. But, considering the increase of waste coming from the city, SMC is going to create an Energy Converter Plant from the waste in the future under PPP. As a result, SMC will settle 1200 metric tons of solid waste per day.
With this, SMC will also install a 600-ton capacity plant. As a result, more waste can be disposed of. Last year, the National Green Tribunal reprimanded the SMC to become tough on garbage. SMC has created various garbage plants.
The plants with the capacity of 10 metric tons per day will be made in seven zones of Municipal Corporation under Source Segregation and Source Treatment. Under which all the zones will automatically decontaminate waste from their respective areas.
About the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC), SMC is going to build a road over bridge (ROB) near the train track between Sachin and Bhestan. The standing committee has given the theoretical approval of this bridge at a cost of about 21 crores. In the expenditure, the State Government will contribute 50%, Indian Railways 25% and GUDM 25%. For this work, the Corporation has given the task of preparing the bridge to the Multi Media Consultant.
