In Amiyad village of Borsad taluka, 200 farmers blocked the rail rout by closing railway gate crossing no.44 without intimating concerned railway authorities. The district collector gave a clear opinion to open the closed crossing as per clause and then villagers submitted the matter to district collector. However, the gate was not opened even after the consultation of the district collector with the concerned rail authorities. The farmers showing angry protest, gave the rail stop movement. A police car was rammed into Ameyad railway station after threatening.
Rail service is simple, safe and cheap, and people get direct benefits. but, for the people of Amiyad village of Borsad taluka, the railways are facing problems today. Around 200 farmers of the area have become stranded with the help of the railway department.
The decision was taken to stop the manned crossing on the Vadodara Kathana Line in 2012. As part of which, the crossing no.44, which is in Ameyad village, was also closed. On the other side of the crossing, Amiyad village had 500 bigha of land and the farmers used to take advantage of this crossing while going to their fields.
But, the villagers who stopped the Phatak, closed the road to their fields completely and railway department urged to open the Phatak. The district collectors also gave a clear opinion to the Railway Department to open the Fatak number 44 by checking the situation of the people of Ameyad. However, there was a lot of anger in the farmers who did not allow raiway deptt.to open the Fatak and Rail Roko movement was organized on Sunday in writing to the system. The railway department was awakened and the police caravans were rushed to Amiyat Fatak. The Rail Roko movement did not succeed.
The villagers have given the railway division a deadline to open another 15-day break. If the railway department does not open the Fatak within 15 days time, The rally is being observed by the railway department, the railway department solves the problem of the farmers or continues their stubborn attitude.
