Justice by judge Shivpal Singh - Lalu Yadav get 3.5 years jail

A special SBI Court convicts Phool Chand, Mahesh Prasad, Bake Julious, Sunil Kumar, Sushil Kumar, Sudhir Kumar and Raja Ram sentenced to 3.5 years in jail and fined Rs 5 lakh fine each. And RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav also gets 3.5 years jail and Rs 5 lakh fine. 

Now Lalu Yadav has to go High Court for bail. 

The sentenced on Lalu Yadav and 10 others was done via video conferencing. 

On 23rd December the special CBI court has pronounced Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Yadav guilty in the Rs 900 crore fodder scam case.

What was the scam?

The Fodder Scam was a corruption scandal that involved the embezzlement of about ₹9.4 billion (equivalent to ₹34 billion or US$520 million in 2016) from the government treasury of the eastern Indian state of Bihar.

As of the trial has completed in 44 cases out of a total of 53 cases.

Highlight of drama

-          The trail was completed on 13 December in the special CBI court and Lalu Yadav was convicted on 23rd December.

-          The sentencing has repeatedly been getting postponed. Getting phone calls from Lalu’s men-said Judge.

-          Lalu Yadav said in front of the court that- I have no role in the scam & consider minimum punishment keeping in view my age and health ground.

-          After court sentences, Lalu Prasad would able to apply for bail immediately at the lower court itself if the court sentences jail less than three years.
