Like every year, this year also the grand celebration of Shak-Utsav was
organized at Prantij Swaminarayan temple. The 302 years old tradition has still
remained unchanged. Even today women cook chapatti (rotla) on traditionally
brick chulas in temple campus. All the devotees of the surrounding areas
including Prantij taluka participated in the grand celebration.
years back, Lord Swaminarayan cooked about 120 kg brinjal vegetable in 24 kg
pure ghee for all his devotees, since then this tradition has been celebrated
as Shak-Utsav. The grand celebration of Shak-Utsav was organized at Shree
Swaminarayan temple in the main market of Prantij. The Mahant of the temple
Swami Gopaljivandasji organized meeting for all the devotees and other saints
at the meeting hall of the temple where Swami Pranjivandasji gave the blessing
speech. According to the tradition, the female devotees cooked bajri rotla,
bringal veg, Khichadi and buttermilk as Prasad for the devotees on the
traditional brick chulas at Prantij Swaminarayan temple. All the devotees felt
blessed by such celebration.
