Survey of damages begin after floodwater diminished
Rajkot: There was no overnight heavy rainfall and the rescue and relief operations were undertaken at hyper sensitive villages in Rajkot, Morbi and Surendranagar districts. Flood waters started diminished on Sunday morning.
However, the situation remained impassable in downstream areas of Machhu dam with more than 300 people devoid in some areas, which was flooded by the water. They have taken shelter on their rooftops as water has rushed into houses.
The rescue team saved 30 people in fishing boats, and around 171 people in other villages shifted to safer locations.
The relief commissioner said that the situation is normalising as no heavy rain. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams rescued people stranded in Jamnagar.
He said the district administration has begun the survey of damages in Rajkot, Morbi, Tankara and Jamnagar which received incessant rains for three days.
