Under-19 National Archery tournaments held

 Nadiad: In esteem presence of Principal Secretary of Minerals and Mining Division A.K.Rakesh (IAS) and District Collector Kuldeep Arya (IAS), the inauguration of Under-19 National Archery Tournament was held under 63rd National School Games. This tournament is organized in Nadiad from 1st December to 4th December 2017 where 500 young players from 23 states across the country are participating.

In the inaugural function of this tournament, the lamp was lit and flagged was off by the dignitaries, March past was done by the participants and the cultural programs were organized by Nadiad Kalavrund. On this occasion, Principal Secretary of Minerals and Mining Division A.K.Rakesh said that enjoy the sport with high aims and sportsmen spirit as it is important for the physical and the mental health and winning or losing is the part of the game. Also, games awaken the national spirit so it should be an integral part of the life. Presently, the Indian government and State government are also taking keen interest for the lounging, boarding and coaching of the young players which help them to achieve success at national and international level. Like Gujarat government, if other state governments also take the responsibilities to avail the good facilities to the players then no one can stop the players to shine out at international level. Though archery is the ancient game still it is played in Olympic Games till date shows that games have always been the important part of our development. The Indian players had showcased their notable performance at international level in games like hockey, shooting, wrestling, boxing and tennis. Still, in certain games, India need to progress. By the incident of Mahabharat - fish's eye aiming, he said that concentration helps to win any game. He also said that South Korea country is same in the area of Gujarat state but it has achieved many medals. Hence, with the help of best facilities and availability of latest equipment by Central and State government, Indian players can also perform outstandingly in upcoming Olympics and win many medals too.

District Collector Dr. Kuldeep Arya said that normally Gujaratis are least interested in games and sports but in last decade all age group citizens had started taking keen interest due to Khel Maha Khumbh organized by the state government. The youngsters from rural areas are also showcasing their hidden talent at the national level since the sports and games were promoted under "Khelo Gujarat" campaign. Presently, the Gujarat government has availed the facilities of the latest technology and modern sports equipment along with national level lounging, boarding and coaching to the players in 18 districts across the state so players also have to promise to showcase their best performance.

Arjun Award Archery winner Mangalsingh said that all the players even from rural areas are availed with the latest international level facilities including kits, scholarships, and coaching, hence all the players have to develop sportsmen spirit and goal to achieve Olympic and bring glory to the nation. He also encouraged the players by his story that his 8-month practice took him to Asian Games.

The Sports Secretary Kapadia also encouraged the player to play the game with sportsmen spirit. He also gave the information regarding the different sports promoted by the state government and the facilities and encouragements availed to the players. On this occasion dignitaries from Sports Department, coaches, judges, sportsmen were present along with a large number of sports lovers.
