Unique public awareness programs organised on AIDS Day

Bhavnagar: 1st December is celebrated as World AIDS Day across the world. Many programmes are held for public awareness on how to stop this disease and how the patients should be treated.

Even today when education is widespread and our society is getting forward there are still people who hold wrong beliefs and prejudices against the patients of AIDS. They often forget that those patients deserve to be well treated as a human being.

As per the records of Sir Takhtsinhji Hospital, the numbers of patients are increasing day by day. The total numbers of HIV patients in hospital are 200. Amongst them, there are 9 pregnant women as well.

There are 2281 HIV patients registered in the district. Sir Takhtsinhji Hospital provides a special treatment for them. It is notable that it is incurable and the medicines have not been found for HIV.

As per the report, 18,000 new cases are registered everyday across the world. This is spreading because of unsafe sex, infection during pregnancy, blood infection, injections and drugs etc. The patients should be treated well with love and warmth. Their human rights should be protected.
